Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), named after great patriotic leader Jenab Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah (popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir) was established in the year 1982 through an Act passed by the State Legislature in the 33rd year of the Republic of India with its jurisdiction over the entire State of Jammu & Kashmir with its headquarter at Shalimar, Srinagar. With the SKUAST Act in force, the agricultural education, research, and extension training units were transferred to SKUAST from various development departments viz; Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Sericulture of Jammu & Kashmir State.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Undergraduate Admission 2019

At UG level, SKUAST-K offers Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) with four specializations - Agriculture (Hons), Forestry, Horticulture and in Sericulture, and Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), ( Bachelor of Fisheries Science) B.F.Sc and Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) with one specialization each.

Duration of B.V.Sc. & A.H is 5 years 6 months including internship. The others UG courses need 4 years to be completed.

For admission in Undergraduate courses, the Students need to attend an entrance test called University Entrance Test (UET-2019) held by SKUAST-K University. 

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Postgraduate Admission 2019

At the PG level, the university has various offerings to Students. The university offers Master of Science (M.Sc) degree with 13 different specializations, Master of Fisheries (MFC) with one specialization and Master of Veterinary Sciences (M.V.Sc.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) with two specializations each. The duration of all the Postgraduate courses is 2 years.

For admission in Postgraduate courses, the Students need to attend an entrance test called University Entrance Test (UET-2019) held by SKUAST-K University.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir Ph.D. Admission 2019

One can choose from five specializations in the Ph.D. programme offered by the university. SKUAST-K offers Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries and Forestry as specializations in Ph.D. The number of total seats available for the Ph.D. programme is 108.

For the Ph.D. programme one must need to hold a master's degree in the relevant subject with 65% marks from an ICAR or UGC approved university.

For admission, eligible Students need to appear in the Written Test of 90 marks weightage (90 MCQ). The short listed Students are then required to appear before the Selection Committee for Research Aptitude Assessment of 10 marks weightage.
